Bruce Springsteen Postpones All Remaining 2023 Tour Dates as He Continues Treatment for Peptic Ulcer Disease

Bruce Springsteen has had to deliver unfortunate news to his fans as he battles peptic ulcer disease, forcing him to postpone all remaining tour dates for the 2023 Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band's World Tour. The iconic "Born in the U.S.A." artist, despite his legendary status, cannot control the hand of fate.

In a tweet on Wednesday, he shared his health update: "Bruce Springsteen has been steadily recovering from peptic ulcer disease over the past few weeks and will continue treatment throughout the year as per doctor's advice. In light of this, and to prioritize caution, all remaining 2023 tour dates for Bruce Springsteen and The E Street Band will be rescheduled for 2024."

Springsteen's statement assured fans that rescheduled dates for the 2023 shows, including those postponed earlier this month, will be announced next week, and they will take place at the originally scheduled venues. He added that those who cannot attend the newly announced 2024 dates and purchased their tickets through official ticketing companies have a 30-day window to request refunds. Tickets for postponed performances will remain valid for the rescheduled dates.

Springsteen closed his tweet with a heartfelt message: "Thanks to all my friends and fans for your good wishes, encouragement, and support. I'm on the mend and can't wait to see you all next year."

This announcement follows Springsteen's previous decision to postpone September 2023 tour dates due to the same condition, as detailed in a statement posted on the band's Twitter account on September 6. In that statement, it was explained that Mr. Springsteen's medical advisors recommended postponing the remainder of the September shows due to symptoms related to peptic ulcer disease. Springsteen expressed his regret and assured fans that he would make up for these missed shows.

Peptic ulcers, according to the Mayo Clinic, are open sores that develop on the inner lining of the stomach and upper portion of the small intestine.

These postponements occur shortly after Springsteen's stage mishap in Amsterdam, just over three months ago. During a performance of his 2020 track "Ghosts" from the Letter to You album, Springsteen took a tumble while stepping back onto the stage. He managed to break his fall with his left hand while still holding the microphone and caused no harm to the guitar in his right hand. After a brief recovery period, Springsteen returned to finish the show, with the support of his band and crew.
