Marieangela King, Cher's daughter-in-law, has made shocking allegations, claiming that the iconic singer orchestrated the abduction of her estranged husband, Elijah Blue Allman.
According to court documents obtained by USA TODAY, King made this accusation in a declaration filed in December 2022 as part of their divorce proceedings. She alleges that Cher arranged for Allman's removal from their New York hotel room on their wedding anniversary in November of that year. Allman had initiated divorce proceedings in November 2021 in the Los Angeles County Superior Court of California.
In her December filing, King expressed deep concern for Allman's well-being and whereabouts, stating, "I am currently unaware of my husband's well-being or whereabouts. I am very concerned and worried about him. I was told by one of the four men who took him that they were hired by (Allman’s) mother."
King also revealed that in the months leading up to the alleged kidnapping, she was instructed not to have any contact with Allman while he was in a "lockdown at a treatment facility." The specific nature of Allman's treatment was not disclosed in King's filing. She emphasized her desire for what is best for her husband, acknowledging his family's concerns for his well-being.
USA TODAY has reached out to Cher's representative for comment on these allegations.
Marieangela King and Elijah Blue Allman, the son of Cher and musician Gregg Allman, were married in December 2013. Despite Allman's divorce filing, King claimed that the couple was actively working on reconciling during their 12-day trip to New York in November 2022.
King's request to postpone the trial setting conference for their divorce was granted in December, and the hearing was rescheduled for April. As per an online court filing, the hearing is now set to take place on October 27 following an additional postponement in April.
