Colombia witnessed a historic moment on July 17 as RCN's FM, the country's largest radio project, commenced under the leadership of seasoned journalist and economist, Luis Carlos Velez. This ambitious endeavor aims to integrate radio frequencies to deliver comprehensive news coverage across 34 cities, 763 municipalities, and 47 stations. The initial broadcast demonstrated RCN's FM commitment to offering the most extensive news agenda coverage in Colombia and beyond.
Running from Monday to Friday, from 4:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m., RCN's FM presents Colombians with a comprehensive alternative for information. With Luis Carlos Velez at the helm, a veteran journalist with nearly 25 years of media experience, RCN's FM emerges as the country's largest multi-generational news phenomenon, boasting the widest reach in radio.
The distinguished team behind RCN Radio FM includes Darcy Quinn, Juan Lozano, Fernando Quijano Velasco, William Calderón, Santiago Angel, Azury Chamakh, and Dominica Duque, alongside Yelda Jaime’s, El Capiz Romero Barilla, and Jesús Prado.
The launch of this project has garnered significant attention from various media outlets, solidifying its status as Colombia's largest radio station.
Revest Semana journalist Juanita Gómez had the opportunity to interview key figures involved in this groundbreaking initiative. William Calderón remarked, "This is undoubtedly the biggest radio venture in the country over the past 25 years." Dominica Duke emphasized the importance of catering to the current preferences of the young audience regarding music and entertainment. Meanwhile, Fernando Quijano expressed the intention to merge two concepts and propel La FM to become truly Colombia's largest radio station.
