Why Travis Barker Skipped the MTV VMAs Despite Blink-182's Nomination

Travis Barker, along with his Blink-182 bandmates Mark Hoppus and Tom DeLonge, received a nomination in the Best Alternative Video category at the 2023 MTV VMAs for their song "EDGING." However, they were noticeably absent from the awards ceremony.

The reason for their absence was straightforward—Blink-182 was actively performing in Copenhagen, Denmark, as part of their European tour on the same evening as the VMAs. Travis Barker even shared a video from a friend on his Instagram Story, showcasing his energetic drumming performance during the band's live show.

Unfortunately, Blink-182 did not secure the award, which was instead won by Lana Del Rey's "Candy Necklace" featuring Jon Batiste.

Travis Barker had recently returned to the tour after a brief hiatus. He had temporarily left the tour to be with his pregnant wife, Kourtney Kardashian, who required urgent fetal surgery.

During his stop in Cologne, Germany, Travis shared photos of the trio's dynamic performance at the Lanxess Arena, where they played to a packed audience. Travis made sure to show his appreciation for Kourtney, sharing an image of the roses she had sent to his hotel room.

The situation took a serious turn on September 1st when Blink-182 announced that Travis needed to rush home "due to an urgent family matter," leading to the postponement of their tour dates in Glasgow, Belfast, and Dublin. Travis was seen leaving the Hollywood Presbyterian Medical Center with Kourtney, and she later revealed that she had undergone "urgent fetal surgery" to save their unborn child's life.

In a heartfelt post, Kourtney expressed her gratitude to her doctors and to Travis for his unwavering support during this challenging time. She emphasized Travis's dedication to her, especially during her pregnancy, and their strong partnership, where they prioritize being there for one another.

A source also noted, "Kourtney is doing better and back at home. Kourtney is Travis' main priority, especially throughout her pregnancy, and he would drop anything for her.
