In the latest episode of 'The Voice,' Nini Iris, a 27-year-old singer from Georgia (the country, not the state), took the stage and left all four coaches in awe during the Blind Auditions. Her powerful rendition of Everybody Loves an Outlaw's "I See Red" earned her a rare four-chair turn, with Niall Horan, Reba McEntire, John Legend, and Gwen Stefani all vying to have her on their team.
While Nini's desire to sing songs by strong women caught the attention of Reba and Gwen, it was Niall who made a passionate pitch to recruit her for his team. He described her performance as "strong, powerful, commanding," and Nini's connection with the audience was undeniable.
As the conversation unfolded, Nini dropped a surprising revelation: she used to be a devoted One Direction fan in her younger days. This confession seemed to be a recurring theme for contestants this season, and she even admitted to having written a few fanfictions about the band. Nini's fanfictions mostly revolved around her fantasies of meeting the members of One Direction in person.
John Legend couldn't resist poking fun at the gap between fantasy and reality, teasing, "You know what's sad is when reality doesn't live up to the dreams that we've had."
In the end, Nini's heart already belonged to Niall, and she chose to join Team Niall. This marked another instance of Niall Horan winning over a former One Direction fan, much to the chagrin of his fellow coaches.
Last week, Niall had a similar victory when he secured singer Laura Williams, who fondly recalled attending a One Direction tour during her formative years. This trend of Niall attracting One Direction fans has been a source of frustration for the other coaches.
"Dang boy bands!" Reba exclaimed, and John Legend agreed, comparing Niall's appeal to that of Nick Jonas during his time on the show, with a certain generation of girls.
John humorously remarked, "Niall's been a thorn in my side all season, and I have no chance against him with these girls."
